About Us
Marnies Bush Hideout is not just an address. It is the manifestation of a nature-lover’s dream and a very special love story. It is the fruit of your hosts, Brian and Nicolette’s VERY hard work – to bring their vision of sharing everything they love about the bush with YOU. This is their story that is at the heart of how Marnies came to be…
Brian recalls: “After searching for someone to share my life with, I met Nicolette just over a year ago. I told her I wanted her to understand who I am: a lover of the bushveld with a passion for photography. So, I took her to a private game farm near Moloto. When we entered the tears ran down her cheeks. When I gave her my spare camera and a 300mm zoom lens, the lens got a good workout and did not stop clicking away!-) Sitting around a campfire that night (and having established that she shared my connection with nature), I promised to introduce her to my favorite bush life experience – Kruger National Park.”
In November of 2024 Nicolette’s dream came true when she and Brian entered The Kruger via Malelane Gate, and once again the tears ran and was accompanied by a smile that remained for the duration of their 4 days spent in The Kruger.
“A few months later we both sat searching for our retirement home,” Brian continues. Their search led them to Marloth Park, where they found the perfect property for what they had in mind. “We punched numbers and ideas together and agreed that we wanted to take people away from the concrete jungle and build up an inviting log cabin – that is when Marnies Bush Hideout was born!”.
The rest, as they say, is history, and today, Brian and Nicolette are in accord: “We are thrilled to share our journey, and what the bushveld has to offer, with other people. Now you can spend the day in Kruger National Park and come back to Marnies Bush Hideout, sit on the deck with refreshments and continue to have the Kudus, Bushbuck, Impalas, Giraffe and possibly a Wildebeest come within a few meters and eat the bales of hay & pellets that you have put out for them to eat – it’s magical!”
But that’s not all… “Starting with a magnificent sunrise while having your morning coffee, you can encounter abundant bird life and continue to experience the sights and sounds of nature right throughout the day. Sitting around a campfire under the stars, you will meet our adorable little bush babies which we love to feed at night and you might even be lucky enough to see the local wild Genet makes its appearance.”
Their love of the wild is obvious and they have poured their hearts and souls into creating a very special place where YOU can have a true bushveld experience in one of the world’s best-loved wildlife regions.
